Project Overview: Hangzhou Gemstone Mountain

Gemstone Mountain was selected as the "New Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake" and was named "Gem Sunset". Located in the north of West Lake in Hangzhou City, the rocks here are bright red, and there are many shiny red pebbles in the rock mass. When the morning sun or sunset shines on them, they are particularly dazzling, as if countless gems are shining. 

On the eastern summit of Gemstone Mountain, the Baochu Pagoda stands tall and tall. Hangzhou people often say that Lei Feng is like an old man, and Bao Chu is like a beautiful woman. This "beauty" was born in the early Northern Song Dynasty. It was originally a nine-level brick and wood structure. Until the reconstruction in the Ming Dynasty, it still maintained this structure that was not much different from the Liuhe Pagoda and Leifeng Pagoda. The current solid brick style is imitated from the Qing Dynasty when it was rebuilt in 1933. With its beautiful appearance and prominent position, it has become an eye-catching landmark of the West Lake.

Lighting design concept

Gemstone Mountain is an important scenic spot during the Asian Games torch relay. Looking from the side of the broken bridge, it creates an ink painting picture. From the green mountains to the lake, all directions present a three-dimensional "elegant" artistic conception.

This smart lighting overall solution shifts from the pursuit of brightness to the pursuit of beauty. The style adopts the Jiangnan ink characteristics of Chinese painting. The mountain lighting method is adjusted to a pole modular lamp installation method. The lamps are no longer on the trees, making it more environmentally friendly than before the renovation; the Baochu Tower is replaced with LED precise beams, which can more delicately present the elegance, simplicity and historical significance of the Baochu Tower. . "It looks like a scroll when viewed from a distance, but not dazzling when viewed up close", forming an "ink and wash Jiangnan" picture with complete boundaries, overall coordinated light and color, and softness and comfort.

The light and shadow design of Gemstone Mountain focuses on nature and the artistic conception of ink halo. Starting from the perspective of small intervention, traditional Chinese lighting techniques are used to reflect the characteristics of Gemstone Mountain.
